competency behavioral interviewing

The recruiter-hiring manager partnership is invaluable but delicate, with an indisputable common goal, that of successful hiring. An accepted crucial step preceding this would be the candidate interview.

Interviewers may be excused in wishing for ‘just a peek’ into the crystal ball, or for that teeny hint to confirm candidate selection. Screening candidates for red flags, carrying out background checks, or perhaps putting them through psychometric tools or aptitude tests would enhance the process but none of these could substitute the pivotal interview.

It is seldom ‘what’ we know that stamps our credibility or experience in any area. Rather, it’s ‘how’ we applied our knowledge or skills to impact outcomes and achievements. It’s been great to work with several repeat & new clients, to facilitate several rounds of Competency & Behavioral Interviewing (CBI).

This highly interactive program covers the end-to-end process from organizational strategy to candidate rating; understanding and working on competency and related behavioral indicators; practical mock interviewing sessions equipping participants with evidence-based and probing questioning skills; as well as application of the Star technique as a data gathering tool.

CBI is sadly misunderstood and dismissed simplistically as the “tell me about the time when…” approach.
