The Assessment Centre (AC) enables candidates to display future role readiness through various well-designed simulation exercises and with skillful questioning. Keen observation and acute listening are necessary attributes for assessors.
As a certified AC assessor, having led and co-led more than 200 assessments (individual & group), I would unhesitatingly state the obvious – that it is impossible to claim complete accuracy in predicting the future performance of a candidate.
However, I have observed how the AC gives talent management an edge, especially in succession planning. The various simulation exercises are embedded with future role challenges, include in-depth behavioral interviewing, and are coupled with the necessary aptitude or personality tests. Collectively, these provide experienced assessors with invaluable insights to spot potentials and to develop a robust succession pipeline. It also provides candidates with a development path for future role readiness.
