Managing Transitions with Care

Managing change is complex. It may be about moving all the coffee machines to dedicated corners in the various floors of the building. The murmurs of this inconvenience could go on for months.

Not managing it can be disastrous. This could involve relocating 1000 employees from an existing office complex to a new premises 5 km away. Some would rather resign than make this move.

Implementing change well but not having the resources to sustain it, has its own set of problems. Refurbishing one whole wing at a great cost for a new project initiative only to have it abandoned is not fun!

We are certain no one plans for failure (if there was indeed a plan to start with). However, diligently completing a methodology and focusing on deliverables without considering and planning for the people side of transitioning to change, can derail the project.
It is complex.
